In October of 2001, Oryzatech was awarded a $300,000 California Department of Food and Agriculture grant which paved the way for proof of concept research and secured the first U.S. patent-protection. The founders and officers, Jay Ruskey and Ben Korman, bring experience in marketing, design, and agriculture. They recognize the business opportunity in transforming an agricultural waste product with significant disposal issues into a structural green building material. In addition to economic success, Oryzatech views beneficial environmental and social stewardship as core values of its business.
Further activities involved farming rice straw, operating two R & D facilities for prototype models of products and production. The company is proud to have a knowledgeable Board of Directors and advisors from various industries. Oryzatech has completed extensive market research looking at product demand and customer behaviors.
